What we do
Through our network of Mental Health Champions, we’re changing people’s minds about mental health and reducing stigma.
We ‘champion’ positive mental wellbeing. This means we talk about and actively share our own experiences of mental health, encourage others to talk about how they are feeling and share tips for how to cope with day-to-day life. We are also part of the national Time To Change Campaign and collectively are changing public perceptions nationally about mental health and helping people to get well and stay well.
How You Can Get Involved
If you are interested in changing people’s minds in Islington about mental health, we can get you the training and support to know:
- all the key facts about mental health
- how to manage your own mental health
- how to spot early signs of mental health issues in others
- the right ways to support people experiencing mental health issues
We will work with you to organise events and talks that change people’s minds about mental health. You can even simply start the right conversations that ensure people are equipped with practical tips for getting well and staying well. In the process, you will:
- develop your communication skills
- gain organisation and leadership skills
- meet lots of new people and make new friendships
- make lasting differences to people and organisations

“I wasn’t so confident talking about mental health but being a Champion has been brilliant. I’ve met like-minded people, who want to overcome stigma and discrimination towards mental health. This has helped me gain experience and confidence to speak out about mental health in a positive way and show that mental health difficulties can happen to anyone at any time of their lives”
