We’re Friendship Network and we’re passionate about making a difference to older people’s lives.
What we do
We help older people to make new friends and feel more positive about life.
How can I get involved?
As a befriender, you’ll be matched with an older person in Islington and visit or phone to chat regularly, check the older person is ok. We’ll also give you the latest information about useful local services so you can give advice on who they can contact about life’s challenges.
Phone Club Friends
As a Phone Club Friend, you’ll chat with 3 older people each week over the phone. You’ll find out about their lives and check they’re ok. You’ll also feedback information to our project workers, helping us to match each older person with the most suitable long-term befriender.
What will you get?
- to see the world through someone else’s eyes
- that feeling of satisfaction from helping another member of the community
- training and advice
- help to improve your job prospects by developing listening and communication skills (particularly for those working in health and social care)
Join a network of 100 older people and befrienders making a real difference to each other’s lives.
