Community Kitchens Project works with disadvantaged local people and community groups in Islington and the surrounding boroughs to promote healthy eating and healthy living, make healthy food more available and also create training & employment opportunities. CKP’s focus has primarily been on disadvantaged people, those on low income, people with special needs, those who are harder to reach, e.g. socially excluded people, young care leavers, refugee communities, and those at high risk of diet related health problems. Services are provided at a range of community settings including on social housing estates.

Participants said:
I really enjoyed the course. It makes me come out of the house. The trainers were very helpful and caring. They are excellent. In future, I would like to join another session
Really useful especially to know about fat, salt and sugar we are eating. I enjoyed making the food and to see how you can actively make things healthier
It was interesting going to the supermarket as it showed me how the big companies exploit people with their pricing and food labels. Overall, a great session
